A. Introduction-
1.Warm-Up on board:
- What is a benchmark?
- When would we use the benchmark of 0?
- When would we use the benchmark of ½?
- When would we use the benchmark of 1?

B. Development-
1. Go over pre-typed notes with students
2.Review benchmarks: chart on page 171 blue book; number line on page
187 green book. Have students give examples of fractions using each
benchmark.
3. Go through examples 1 & 2 on page 172 in the blue book. |

1. Exercises on page 173: do numbers 1, 2 and 3 for students
