A. Introduction-

1.Warm-Up on board:
- What is a benchmark?
- When would we use the benchmark of 0?
- When would we use the benchmark of ½?
- When would we use the benchmark of 1?
 

B. Development-

1. Go over pre-typed notes with students
2.Review benchmarks: chart on page 171 blue book; number line on page 187 green book. Have students give examples of fractions using each benchmark.
3. Go through examples 1 & 2 on page 172 in the blue book.
 

C. Practice-

1. Exercises on page 173: do numbers 1, 2 and 3 for students
2.Call students up to do examples 4, 5, 6
3. More examples
 

D. Independent Practice-

1.Blue book: (MF, DW, PS) page 171 numbers 1-12
2.Blue book: (BM) page 187 numbers 1-15
