1. Topic Of Lesson Plan-
Classifying Quadrilaterals

2. Lesson Content-
Quadrilaterals, parallelograms, trapezoids, trapeziums, rhombus

3. Goals And Expectations-
1.SWBAT classify quadrilaterals
2.SWBAT classify parallelograms
3.SWBAT explain sum of the angles for a triangle & a quadrilateral.

4. Objectives-

1. Student will cut out 3 different shapes and put them in the right category ( parallelogram, trapezod, and trapeziums.

5. Materials and Aids-
paper, ruler, scissors, tape, math book, white board,

6. Methods Used and Procedures-

A. Introduction-

1.Ask students to draw a quadrilateral on their white board.
2. Ask for definition.

B. Development-

1. 3 types of quadrilaterals - parallelogram, trapezoid & trapezium.
2.Parallelogram - 2 pairs of parallel sides.
3.Trapezoid - has 1 pair of parallel sides.
4. Trapezium - has no parallel sides.
5. Have the students draw each of the quadrilaterals.

C. Practice-

1. Put classifications of Quadrilaterals in Math notebook. Use red for parallel lines & blue for non-parallel.
2. draw some quadrilaterals on board and pull sticks to have them label.

D. Independent Practice-

1. Math book

E. Accommodations For Students-

1. have them create the quadrilaterals with straws to visually see when the lines are parallel.

F. Checking for understanding-

1.white boards
2.walking around checking math notebook a-i
3. pulling sticks to label quadrilaterals.

G. Closure-

1. Ask students how all quadrilaterals are alike? - they are four-sided polygons.
2. How are they different? - some have 2 pairs of parallel congruent lines, some have one 1 pair of parallel lines and some don't have any.

7. Evaluation-
1. Complete answers from assigned page in textbook.
